Job summary

Plains Marketing is hiring a Junior Mechanical Technician for field-based maintenance of pumps, valves, engines, and tank mixers across station, pipeline and terminal facilities. You will perform preventative and minor/major repairs, service mechanical equipment, and assist with safety-compliant procedures in open environments with extreme temperatures.

Role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and progression through a related trades apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Enrolling in or completed the first year of a related trades apprenticeship.
• Ability to read and interpret facility drawings and manuals.
• Basic math and good communication skills in English.
• Experience with maintenance in pipeline/industrial environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, upkeep and cleaning of station, pipeline and terminal facilities including preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Performs routine scheduled and non-scheduled equipment maintenance with guidance from other maintenance personnel.
• Services and lubricates mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, valves, and mixers.
• Performs lockouts on company facilities.
• Conducts preventive maintenance on pumps and bearings and maintains alignment records.
• Maintains tanks mixers and gearboxes and assesses wear for major/minor repairs.
• Conducts valve maintenance and performs regulatory inspections as required.
• Installs and maintains process piping per engineering requirements.
• Assists in ensuring equipment inspections are performed and records kept in CMMS (Maximo).
• Demonstrates safe work practices and reports hazards.
