Job summary

Plains is seeking a Junior Mechanical Technician for field-based maintenance across pumps, valves and related equipment in open environments across the Plains network. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, document wear trends and ensure safety practices are followed.

The role requires safety training, ability to read schematics, basic math, and strong communication. Welcome in Texas and neighboring areas; valid driver’s license and pre-employment checks apply.

Qualifications

• Able to read and interpret facility drawings and technical manuals.
• Able to read, write and speak English; perform basic math.
• Read and interpret schematics and operation manuals.
• Experience with precision measurement tools is preferred.
• Willing to work outdoors in heat/cold and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on pumps, valves, engines and pumps-to-motor alignments.
• Maintains maintenance records and equipment wear trends.
• Conducts preventative maintenance on pumps, valves and motors and related equipment.
• Performs lockouts and ensures compliance with safety policies.
• Supports field operations and routine inspections; uses CMMS to log activities.
• Assists with pipe/process installations and fittings as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

1st year of related trades apprenticeship program
