Job summary

Plains is seeking a Junior Mechanical Technician to perform routine and unscheduled mechanical maintenance on pumps, valves, engines, and related equipment at field sites across Texas. You will help ensure safe operations, complete maintenance logs, and support alignment and lubrication tasks.

The role requires a high school diploma or trades apprenticeship, basic math and English literacy, plus familiarity with CAD-like schematics and CMMS (Maximo).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Entering or completed 1st year of a related trades apprenticeship.
• Relevant work experience preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English and perform basic math.
• Read and interpret facility drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Team-based work with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Trouble shoot and repair mechanical equipment.
• Proficient with Excel and Maximo CMMS.
• Familiar with federal, provincial, and industry regulations; Plains procedures.
• O.Q. qualification for Level I tasks.
• Safe work record and hazard awareness.
• Eligible to work in the U.S.; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled mechanical maintenance on pumps, valves, engines, and motors.
• Maintain maintenance records and track wear/repair trends.
• Perform pump-to-motor alignments and lubrications.
• Conduct lockouts and safety tasks per procedures.
• Follow vendor guidelines for pump maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain tank mixers and piping per engineering specs.
• Assist with inspections and CMMS-record keeping.
• Demonstrate safe work practices and report hazards.
