Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Lead Technician for the Assembly Team to oversee and organize technicians in assembling the SPARC device. You will coordinate day-to-day activities, assign tasks, and collaborate with engineers and metrology/quality groups to ensure timely, high‑quality work.

You will lead safety‑driven operations, review work orders, and participate in major lifts while maintaining clear daily status updates and shift handoffs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in a highly technical assembly role.
• 2–3 years overseeing a team of five or more.
• Experience delivering large scale projects end to end.
• Experience assisting lifting operations.
• Knowledge of standard joining and integration methods (bolted interfaces and flanges, welding, epoxies).
• Highly self-motivated, organized, and safety conscious.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Day‑to‑day activity management and coordination of the technician teams to complete the assembly operations, per the overall schedule.
• Work order review across mechanical, welding, electrical, and lifting tasks.
• Participation in major on‑site operations, such as important component lifts.
• Inspection buy‑off for tasks completed by the technician teams.
• Daily updates to the Assembly team on status of each operation.
• Assignment of technicians to specific operations per priorities.
• Coordinate with out‑of‑house teams for seamless integration of SPARC assembly.
• General troubleshooting and proposing workarounds; assist moving forward.
• Notify Assembly Engineers of problems and coordinate with Assembly Testing.
• Daily kickoff and shift‑change meetings outlining work and safety.
