Job summary

Building & Earth Sciences, Inc. is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Level II Technician in Alabama. The role requires at least 1 year of CMT experience and ACI Concrete Certification plus ICC Soils Special Inspector certification or equivalent credentials.

Night shifts and some weekend work are expected. The technician will observe field testing on soil, concrete, grout, mortar and asphalt, prepare samples, document results, and communicate findings clearly to project teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 12 months experience in CMT.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I Certification.
• Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification.
• Understanding of Proctor Compaction Test and USCS Soil Classification.
• competency in One-Point Proctor testing in the field.
• ICC Soils Special Inspector Certification.
• Competency in reading detailed plans and specifications.
• Mortar and grout sampling/testing knowledge.
• General knowledge of asphalt placement monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests, inspections and field observations per project requirements with minimal supervision.
• Submit daily field reports documenting testing, inspections and observations.
• Communicate non-conforming items to project supervision.
• Calibrate and maintain all equipment.
• Transport, operate and care for nuclear density gauge as per safety policies.
• Demonstrate One-Point Proctor testing competency.
• Read and interpret detailed plans and specs.
• Sample mortar and grout; monitor asphalt placement.
