S&ME, Inc. is seeking a Construction Materials Engineering Technician to perform field and laboratory tests on concrete, soils, and asphalt at active construction sites in Charleston, SC.

You’ll collect samples, interpret results, and prepare reports while collaborating with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure safety and quality. The role offers hands-on training, leadership opportunities for seasoned professionals, and benefits designed for employee-owners in a long‑term

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred for advanced levels.
• Active industry certifications (ACI Field Testing Grade I, Strength/Laboratory Technician; ICC Special Inspector) preferred.
• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Basic math proficiency with understanding of measurements and units.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing on construction materials (concrete, asphalt, soil, aggregates).
• Collect and prepare samples for analysis.
• Interpret test results and prepare detailed reports for engineers and project teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure safety and specifications are met.
