Job summary

AEP is seeking a skilled technician for maintenance, repair, and installation of plant equipment across multiple locations. The role requires extensive travel (60%) from your home base, with assignments in Rockport IN, Dresden OH, New Haven WV, Charleston WV, and other sites.

You will perform scaffolding, welding, electrical work, and routine inspections to keep facilities safe and efficient. Qualified candidates will have an associate degree or equivalent experience, strong mechanical skills,

Qualifications

Associate degree in engineering, industrial or energy technology, or equivalent experience with progression.
Two years of related work experience or 4 years with high school diploma.
Must pass required pre-employment assessments.

Responsibilities

Inspect, erect or remove scaffolding and assist in installation or removal of scaffolding.
Perform mechanical tasks including drilling, threading, machining prep on boiler tubes and related components.
Perform non-code welding and simple brazing for wear surfaces and fixtures.
Perform electrical work including terminating conductors and basic circuit repairs (up to 260V).
Operate and maintain mobile equipment; ensure area is clean and orderly.
