Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking skilled technicians to perform inspection, maintenance and construction tasks on plant equipment and structures. You will handle scaffolding, welding, electrical terminations and device repairs while working across site locations.

The role requires familiarity with layout, safety practices and the ability to travel up to 30%. A suitable associate degree or equivalent experience plus relevant certifications is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering, industrial or energy tech or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read simple prints and specs and instruct others when needed.
• Must pass required certifications and hold a valid state driver license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, erect and remove scaffolding and rigging as needed.
• Perform welding, metal cutting and brazing on shop or field parts.
• Install and repair electrical wiring and devices up to 260V AC/DC.
• Maintain, inspect and repair plant equipment and components.
• Operate and maintain light mobile equipment and follow safety rules.
