Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning of mission-critical, medium-voltage UPS systems built on utility-scale BESS equipment. You will direct site teams through installation, commissioning, testing, and handover to services.

You will act as the customer-facing technical authority, collaborate with project managers and OEMs, ensure safety and grid compliance, and own critical-path execution across large, multi-disciplinary projects.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in BESS and power systems.
• Strong background in commissioning and grid compliance.
• Proficiency in SCADA systems, comms protocols, and power conversion.
• Leadership and project management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics engineering (or equivalent).
• Willing to travel up to ~80% to project sites nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and technical oversight of the commissioning process.
• Manage site-based teams of 10–50 people from installation through commissioning and acceptance testing, and facilitate smooth handover to services.
• Develop commissioning plans, test plans, procedures, and schedules.
• Ensure safety, grid interconnection compliance, and regulatory standards.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and high-level troubleshooting for major issues.
• Provide final commissioning sign-off and documentation.
