Job summary

Fives HPM | Aftermarket Americas is seeking an Installation Technician for a major equipment installation in Decatur, Alabama. This highly travel-oriented role installs, starts up, aligns, and services machine tools while coordinating with customers, contractors, and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical skills, experience with CNC systems, and project ownership in the field.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Four to six years related experience and/or training.
• High level mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Experience with CNC controls such as FANUC, Siemens or Heidenhain preferred.
• Ability to manage customer and OEM deadlines and issues.
• Read and interpret assembly drawings and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Report and communicate schedules, issues and daily updates with Manager.
• Install, align, and checkout machine tools at customer sites.
• Instruct operators on CNC controls and testing procedures.
• Use test instruments (VOM, oscilloscope) and laser measurement devices.
• Coordinate installation with customer personnel and third parties.
• Perform health checks, recertifications, and troubleshooting.
• Prepare service and installation reports and travel documentation.
• Interface with customers to ensure safety and quality standards.
