Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site field inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team in the United States. You will contribute to projects that serve federal, public, private, and international clients.

The role involves inspecting traffic control, environmental measures, layout, and materials, under direct supervision. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required; travel up to 40% may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• 0 years of experience; equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• The frequency of travel is contingent on project duties and workload.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of the day-to-day work performed by the contractor; review daily reports and verify QC procedures.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measure quantities of materials placed.
• May be required to perform sampling and/or in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt pavement.
