Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Inspector for our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group to support field activities across multiple project locations. You will gain real-world inspection experience, monitor work quality, safety, and conformance with plans and specifications, and directly impact project success.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and ability to travel 20–40%.

Qualifications

• Must communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic arithmetic skills required for measurements and calculations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Able to quickly learn new computer, phone or related applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials on-site under supervision.
• Review daily reports and determine acceptability of contractor work; verify QC procedures and material testing per QC Plan.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract; measure quantities of materials placed.
• May perform sampling and in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete and asphalt pavement.
