Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site field inspector to support highway construction projects across multiple locations. The role involves direct supervision from higher level inspectors and engineers, with responsibilities spanning traffic control, environmental controls, layout, and materials inspection on projects.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, relevant certifications and at least 2 years of related experience, plus a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials.
• Determine the acceptability of the day-to-day work performed by the contractor and review daily reports.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and may perform sampling and in-place testing.
