Job summary

CDM Smith is hiring for an on-site field position in its Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group. You will gain real-world field experience by inspecting traffic control, environmental controls, layout, and construction methods to support highway projects at multiple project locations.

Required: High School diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license. Expect 20%–40% travel; strong English communication, basic arithmetic, and MS Office skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
• Basic knowledge of arithmetic.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of the day-to-day work performed by the contractor and review daily reports, QC procedures and material testing for conformance.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measure quantities of materials placed.
