Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector in our Transportation Construction group. You will perform inspections of traffic control, materials and methods at project sites, under direct supervision, and influence project success through daily reporting.

Requires a high school diploma, 2 years of related experience, a valid driver's license, and willingness to travel 20–40% to multiple locations nationwide.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI if required.
• Valid driver's license.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Experience may substitute for a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, under direct supervision.
• Determine acceptability of day-to-day contractor work; review daily reports and QC procedures.
• Review material testing procedures/results for contract conformity; measure quantities; may sample/test soil, base, concrete, asphalt.
