Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Inspector for our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group. You will perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

You will review contractor daily reports, verify QC procedures, and assist with material testing and acceptance decisions.

Qualifications

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
Basic knowledge of arithmetic.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn new applications.
Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, specs.

Responsibilities

Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
Determine acceptability of day-to-day work; review and recommend acceptance/rejection of daily reports; verify QC procedures and testing per plan.
Review testing procedures and results for conformance to contract; measure quantities of materials; may perform sampling and in-place testing.
