Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a High Voltage Substation Inspector to support field construction oversight in the Houston, TX area and surrounding states. The role may require up to 100% travel and mobilization to project sites.

You will perform on-site inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specs, codes, and safety requirements, generate documentation, and assist with inspection planning. The position involves coordinating with engineers, project managers, contractors, and client personnel, and may

Qualifications

Minimum 9 years of relevant post-education construction inspection experience.
5+ years of active field inspection experience; strong documentation skills.
Valid state driver’s license is required.
Knowledge of construction inspection principles, codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
Ability to travel and stay for extended periods (6 weeks) for projects.

Responsibilities

Provide inspection support to engineers and project managers to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, contract documents, and codes.
Perform field inspections on projects of moderate scale and complexity.
Generate accurate documentation including reports, photos, sketches, and calculations.
Lead inspection tasks or staff when required and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Attend pre-construction meetings and assist with risk assessment and mitigation actions.
