Job summary

The Army National Guard is seeking personnel for Horizontal Construction Engineer duties. You will operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers and roadgraders to clear paths for construction projects, while learning essential civil construction methods.

Training covers nine weeks of Basic Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training, with the potential for civilian transfer and tuition assistance. You’ll earn a regular paycheck during drill weekends and enjoy military benefits.

Qualifications

• Must enlist in the Army National Guard.
• Ages 17–35, with legal eligibility to join.
• Must pass a physical exam.
• Citizenship requirements apply.

Responsibilities

• Analyze grade stakes and place them accurately.
• Cut and spread fill material with scraper.
• Level earth for runways and roadbeds.
• Clear, excavate and dig areas of construction sites.
• Transport heavy equipment and materials on site.
