Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Horizontal Construction Engineer to clear obstacles and prepare sites for road, airfield, or building projects. You will operate bulldozers, roadgraders, and other heavy equipment to support construction missions.

You’ll learn earth leveling, material spreading, and crane operation, with paid training and a pathway to civilian construction careers after training. Nine weeks of basic and nine weeks of advanced training are typical.

Qualifications

• Must enlist in the Army National Guard.
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
• Must meet citizenship requirements.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the information on grade stakes and placing them.
• Cut and spread fill material with scraper.
• Operate heavy construction equipment to clear obstacles and support building projects.
