Job summary

The DC Army National Guard seeks a Horizontal Construction Engineer to operate heavy equipment and clear sites for road, airfield, and building projects. You will level earth, clear and excavate areas, and assist in combat engineer missions, with a path to civilian construction careers.

You will train for nine weeks at Basic Training and nine weeks at Advanced Individual Training, receiving paid training and a regular paycheck during service.

Qualifications

Must enlist in the Army National Guard.
Ages 17–35.
High school diploma or GED.
Must pass a physical exam and meet standards.
Citizenship per NATIONALGUARD.com.

Responsibilities

Operate bulldozers, roadgraders and other heavy equipment to clear sites.
Level earth for runways and roadbeds; clear, excavate and dig areas.
Spread fill material and move materials with cranes or tractors.
Transport heavy construction equipment and assist in combat engineer missions.
Analyze grade stakes and placement; cut and spread fill with scraper.
