Job summary

S&M is seeking a Field Geotechnical Engineer / Geologist (Nuclear) to support geotechnical, civil, and environmental projects with a focus on nuclear facilities. The role involves fieldwork, data interpretation, and reporting across multiple sites, with travel to out-of-state project locations.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of geotechnical or geology experience, a related degree, and are comfortable working in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• 2 years of geotechnical engineering, geology, or consulting experience; field subsurface exploration experience is required.
• EIT, GIT, PE, or PG is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations including soil borings, drilling oversight, monitoring well installation, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze subsurface conditions and interpret geological and geotechnical data.
• Prepare data tables, figures, and technical reports for client and regulatory review.
• Support laboratory testing programs and evaluate results for engineering applications.
• Coordinate with drilling contractors, laboratories, and project teams; communicate with clients and regulators.
