Job summary

Uniti in South Carolina is seeking a Splicer on the construction team to splice fiber optic and copper cables both outdoors and indoors. You will read, create, and maintain splicing schematics, manage outside plant activities, support project timelines, and oversee safety on site.

This safety sensitive role requires travel up to 50% of the year, weekend work, and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds. CDL/post-hire certification and DOT compliance are expected; on-call rotations apply.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, year-round.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Ability to travel up to 50% and work on on-call rotation.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL post-hire possible.
• DOT pre-hire certification.
• On-site safety focus and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Splice cables using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment.
• Construct splice cases with grounding, bonding, and sealing; manage splicing records.
• Interpret staking sheets and blueprints; follow engineers’ instructions.
• Read maps/records to locate underground and aerial facilities.
• Prepare engineering field notes; update drawings and diagrams.
• Support project contracts and safety procedures on site.
• Measure signal strength with electronic test equipment; diagnose faults.
• Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping around the work site.
