Job summary

Public Storage is seeking a Facilities Manager I - Field to oversee capital projects and maintenance across a multi-site real estate portfolio. You will lead scopes, budgets, vendor management, and ensure on-time delivery while protecting asset performance and revenue.

The role emphasizes coordination with operations, due diligence for acquisitions and site turnovers, and clear communication of milestones to stakeholders. Travel is frequent and experience in facilities management is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in facilities management or construction project management.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects, budgets, and vendors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, facilities mgmt., engineering, or related field preferred.
• Frequent travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage capital and expense projects from discovery through closeout.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Drive progress to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Lead RFP development, bid evaluation, and vendor selection.
• Validate vendor performance and ensure compliance with scope and standards.
• Review and approve invoices and change orders.
• Conduct site assessments and identify capital and maintenance needs.
• Maintain asset inventory data and support lifecycle planning.
• Recommend solutions to improve asset performance and reduce operational risk.
• Interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Apply knowledge of building systems (MEP, structural, envelope) to project planning.
• Support due diligence efforts, including acquisitions and new site turnovers.
• Partner with internal teams to align priorities and communicate effectively.
• Communicate project details and milestones to promote low customer impact.
• Provide regular project updates, including risks and outcomes.
• Address inquiries and follow up w/ Operations in a timely and professional manner.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and municipalities.
