Job summary

Western States is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair engines, powertrains, hydraulics, and electrical systems in the field. You will work under supervision of a Journeyman technician and participate in safety-focused maintenance to keep equipment productive.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, plus at least one year of heavy equipment maintenance and field service experience; a CDL with a clean driving record and DOT compliance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or GED required; Associate degree from an accredited vocational school preferred.
• Minimum of one year heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Minimum of one year of field service experience preferred.
• Minimum of five years experience in heavy equipment diagnosis and repair.
• Valid CDL with a clean driving record and DOT compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop basic troubleshooting skills on engine and equipment systems under supervision.
• Assist with repairs and diagnosing machine failures according to guidelines.
• Perform inspections and minor troubleshooting as directed.
• Write service reports for files and warranty purposes using STW/parts books.
