Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Field Service Engineer for Roche product lines in the United States. The role requires traveling extensively across the assigned territory to install, repair, and service laboratory equipment, and to provide technical support.

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in electronics, electro-mechanical systems, and IT, with the ability to build strong customer relationships and document work per quality procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and technical training or equivalent military training or work experience.
  • 5 years of progressive experience repairing or servicing mechanical/system hardware and software, or networking/wireless networking.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 1-2 years of progressive experience.
  • Completion of RD Services Leadership training and policy.

Responsibilities

  • Travel 100% in the assigned territory.
  • Demonstrate technical repair and/or installation expertise for Roche product lines.
  • Provide technical support to laboratory customers in the assigned territory.
  • Provide routine technical support on operational and maintenance aspects of system equipment.
  • Perform on-site service, repair, and/or installation of company products.
  • Support mechanical/system hardware and software, networking, and wireless networking.
  • Serve as customer contact for routine technical and service-related problems.
  • Follow documented practices, policies, and procedures for repair and installation support.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hardware, software, and system failures using established procedures.
  • Determine cost-effective repairs or resolutions to minimize customer downtime.
  • Analyze and provide feedback and recommendations on product failure trends and serviceability issues.
  • Document activities in compliance with company quality procedures.
  • Adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques for complex requirements.
  • Resolve most questions and problems and refer the most complex issues to higher levels.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the quality system and achieve quality objectives through daily actions.

Requirements
  • High school diploma and 2 years of technical school or equivalent military training or work experience
  • 5 years of progressive experience repairing or servicing mechanical/system hardware and software, or networking/wireless networking
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 1-2 years of progressive experience
  • Successful completion of training or certification as defined by RD Services Leadership and policy
  • Ability to travel, including overnight travel
  • 8+ years of progressive experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 4+ years of progressive experience
  • Advanced knowledge of electronics, electro-mechanical systems, information technology, and basic chemistry
  • Ability to serve as an internal technical resource
  • Ability to provide support after hours and on weekends/holidays
  • Ability to maintain strong customer relationships
