Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior technical service professional to install, program, and maintain complex communication equipment for mission-critical customers. You will diagnose and repair wireless systems, design upgrades, perform FATP, and conduct site surveys while mentoring teammates and supporting pre- and post-sales activities.

The role requires extensive experience with radio theory, infrastructure components, and the ability to travel, lift up to 50 pounds, and work varying shifts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of technical service and installation experience; average of 10+ years.
  • Proven track record overseeing all phases of installation, service, maintenance, and programming.
  • Expert ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex radio systems and wireless equipment.
  • Strong understanding of radio theory and propagation characteristics.
  • Thorough knowledge of infrastructure components including repeaters, mobiles, portables, and signaling equipment.
  • Willingness to learn and be mentored on new communications technologies and equipment.
  • Ability to work indoors/outdoors in heat/cold, wet/dry conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use PPE.
  • Ability to provide on-call/24/7 support and occasional shifts/weekends.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to support company and customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with customers and sales teams to prepare quotes, bids, and completion schedules.
  • Complete assigned tickets properly and on time.
  • Make minor electronic-circuitry modifications and deploy firmware updates.
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships and drive service-business growth and profitability as a primary customer interface.
  • Lead continuous-improvement efforts and manage change.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation and provide 24/7 technical support.
  • Collaborate with the team, Service Manager, and customers.

  • Support and execute customer Functional Acceptance Test Plans (FATP)
  • Perform and document site surveys and assessments for pre-sales delivery and post-installation
  • Optimize systems and conduct complex troubleshooting
  • Mentor and train the team on new technologies and equipment
  • Partner with customers and sales teams to prepare quotes, bids, and completion schedules
  • Complete assigned tickets properly and on time
  • Make minor electronic-circuitry modifications and deploy factory software/firmware updates

Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of technical service and installation experience; average of 10+ years

  • Expert ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex radio systems, communications centers, and other wireless systems/equipment
  • Expert understanding of radio theory and propagation characteristics
  • Thorough knowledge of infrastructure components including repeaters, mobiles, portables, and miscellaneous signaling equipment
  • Strong communication skills for end users and third parties
  • Willingness to learn and be mentored on new communications technologies and equipment
  • Ability to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
  • Ability to use personal protective equipment and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder and operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to provide on-call/24/7 technical support and work occasional second or third shifts and weekends
  • Ability to travel as necessary to support company and customer needs
