Job summary

RS&H, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to join our Transportation-Construction Management team.

The role focuses on field inspection of roadway and bridge projects, preparing estimates, and ensuring contractor conformity with plans and specs. Responsibilities include drafting engineering solutions in MicroStation, supervising contractor work, and coordinating with project teams and state transportation owners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• Minimum of 4 years of experience with major road or bridge construction
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas or the ability to obtain within 6 months
• Must obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames
• Good verbal and written communication skills required
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods
• Ability to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasks
• Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities

• Manage field inspection of roadway and bridge projects
• Prepare and submit progress and final estimates
• Check engineering calculations and interpret contract documents
• Draft engineering solutions in MicroStation for contractors and owners
• Oversee contractors to ensure projects are built within plan and specification
