Job summary

Luster is seeking Field Engineers to support major heavy civil infrastructure programs across highways, bridges, rail, aviation, and water projects in the United States. The role emphasizes on-site verification, record-keeping, and coordination with design and field teams to ensure work matches approved documents.

Candidates should have 5+ years in field engineering on large projects, strong document control skills with tools like Procore and Bluebeam, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction management, or structural engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of field engineering or construction management experience on large >$500M heavy civil projects.
• Ability to interpret plans, specs, submittals, and RFIs against site work.
• Experience maintaining field records including daily reports, quantity records, and site conditions.
• QA documentation and materials testing/acceptance knowledge on heavy civil projects.
• Experience with document control software (Bluebeam Revu, Procore, etc.).
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily construction activities against approved plans and permit conditions and document progress.
• Prepare and maintain field records: reports, quantity records, photos, site condition logs.
• Verify quantities and assist review of progress payments.
• Review submittals and shop drawings for contract conformance and disposition.
• Coordinate RFI responses among contractor, designer, and program team to avoid delays.
• Witness and document QA testing of concrete, asphalt, earthwork; record nonconforming work.
• Verify structures work against shop/working drawings and placement of reinforcement.
• Compare schedule updates with field progress and flag deviations.
• Document field issues, differing site conditions, and changes for claims support.
• Support close-out, punch lists, as-built verification, and turnover docs.
