Job summary

IES Communications seeks a Field Engineer I to install and operate low-voltage/structured cabling systems and equipment. The role includes troubleshooting, testing, and field verification of connections and installations, with responsibility for quality and project documentation.

The engineer will read complex drawings and manuals, prepare shop drawings for new projects, oversee field work with minimal supervision, and support sales with demonstrations. Travel within territory is required.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 3-4 years commercial low voltage/structured cabling experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
• Able to read, write and present clearly.
• Must be able to travel within branch/ regional territory as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install and operate low-voltage/structured cabling systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems in a senior service support role.
• Understand advanced system drawings, specifications, and manuals; create shop drawings and submittals.
• Oversee technical aspects of projects and ensure quality of field work.
• Coordinate with sales for product/system demonstrations and support.
• Maintain project punch-lists and assist with project close-outs.
