Job summary

IES Communications is seeking a Field Engineer I - Structured Cabling to install and operate low-voltage/structured cabling systems and equipment.

You will troubleshoot, read drawings, create shop drawings, and collaborate with project teams to ensure successful project execution from kickoff to closeout. A diploma is required, with a bachelor’s degree preferred, and 3–4 years of cabling experience. Proficiency with MS Office and ability to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a high school diploma or GED; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• 3–4 years of commercial low-voltage/structured cabling experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project) and able to read blueprints.
• Able to travel within branch or regional territory as needed.
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install and operate low-voltage/structured cabling systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems in the field and verify installations.
• Read and interpret system drawings; create shop drawings and submittals.
• Oversee technical aspects of projects and coordinate with supervision.
• Support pre-construction activities and field staff with project setup.
