Job summary

IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services to a variety of end markets. The Field Engineer I role focuses on installing and operating low-voltage and structured cabling systems, troubleshooting equipment, and supporting project kick-offs with shop drawings and submittals.

Applicants should be able to travel within the branch or regional territory, read complex drawings, and coordinate with project managers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3–4 years experience in commercial low voltage/structured cabling.
  • Ability to read drawings and specs.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/MS Project).
  • Excellent teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Install and operate low-voltage/structured cabling systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems.
  • Create shop drawings and submittals for new projects.
  • Manage field work with minimal supervision.
  • Support field staff and project manager during installation.
  • Complete punch lists for project closeouts.
  • Quality-check projects and test equipment.
  • Assist sales with product and system information.
  • Travel within branch/regional territory as required.
