Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer to support Superintendents, coordinate with subcontractors, and help drive project execution in Brevard and Indian River County, FL.

The role focuses on field operations, QA, and coordinating RFIs, submittals, and safety compliance on active sites. The ideal candidate will have a relevant engineering degree, 0–4 years of construction experience, and competent-person certifications in trenching, scaffolding, and other safety areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another relevant field.
• 0–4 years of construction-related experience.
• Ability to communicate and coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen.
• Competent Person certifications in Trenching, Scaffolding, Rigging, Confined Space, Fall Protection, OSHA 10-Hour, First Aid & CPR, Silica, Risk Management.
• Knowledge of surveying fundamentals and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist with facility start-up activities.
• Attend meetings with Subcontractors and team.
• Maintain logs and files for field, equipment, deliveries, and tracking.
• Identify need for and manage RFIs; ensure quality control and compliance.
• Maintain as-built drawings and field records.
• Material purchasing, expediting, and field purchase orders.
• Layout using survey equipment, batter boards, and string lines.
• Schedule inspections and understand PCA budgets.
• Assist with daily reports and project turnover.
