Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. in Central Florida is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to join the project team.

You will provide technical and administrative support across all phases of construction, gaining hands-on experience in project controls, document management, and field operations. This role collaborates with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to keep projects on schedule and within budget while adhering to safety standards and quality procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 0–3 years construction-related experience (internships or co-ops okay).
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and project scheduling software.
• Familiarity with construction management processes and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update project documentation including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and minutes.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, and contract document tracking.
• Support scheduling efforts including updates and milestone tracking.
• Coordinate distribution of project documents to subs, vendors, and field staff.
• Assist with procurement activities including material tracking and expediting.
• Support project closeout with manuals, warranties, as-builts, turnover docs.
• Participate in coordination meetings and document meetings.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress.
• Assist with startup, commissioning, testing, and owner turnover.
• Support safety standards and quality control procedures.
