Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. in Central Florida is seeking a Field Engineer to support the Superintendent and coordinate between Subcontractors and Project Engineers to ensure successful project completion.

You will assist with work plan development, RFIs, submittals, field QA, and coordinating on-site activities to protect schedule, safety, and quality across Southeast projects. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 0–4 years of construction-related experience.
• Ability to communicate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen.
• Competent Person certifications in trenching, scaffolding, rigging, confined space, fall protection, OSHA 10, First Aid & CPR, silica, risk management.
• Knowledge of surveying fundamentals and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist with facility start-up activities.
• Attend meetings (Sub, progress, and team).
• Maintain logs and files (field, equipment, delivery, concrete tracking, rental tracking).
• Identify need for RFI and manage field RFIs.
• Manage approved submittals for quality control and on-site compliance.
• Maintain as-built drawings (electronic and hard copy).
• Material purchasing, expediting, and field purchase orders.
• Maintain material control system for site materials.
• Monitor and report productivity; layout using surveying tools.
• Schedule inspections and coordinate with building departments.
• Understand PCA budgets and verify work correctness.
• Assist QC management and create site logs for turnover.
• Coordinate Locates and One Call tickets; support VDC coordination.
• Take daily progress photos and assist in project closeout.
