Job summary

Plains in Texas is seeking a Junior E&I Technician to provide electrical and instrumentation support across assets such as substations, pump stations, and tank farms. The role involves installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of designated equipment in field environments.

This field-based position requires reading electrical drawings, working safely around high voltage, and collaborating with trades.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical degree, apprenticeship, or two years of field experience preferred.
• Ability to read/write English and perform basic math.
• Team-based work with strong communication skills.
• Read electrical drawings/schematics and perform related calculations.
• Know electrical codes for pipeline/facility operations.
• Experience with high-voltage systems; substation work.
• Proficient with PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and related equipment.
• Basic safety practices and PPE usage.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Executes tasks with moderate guidance; works with little supervision on routine maintenance and projects.
• Schedules and performs inspections/maintenance of electrical equipment at substations, pump stations, valve & manifold sites.
• Maintains equipment per maintenance control system; creates service requests and logs records.
• Performs preventive maintenance on DC/AC motors; resolves abnormal conditions.
• Tests and maintains transmission devices, switchgear, and control devices.
• Installs SCADA, DCS, HMI, and PLC components; troubleshoots as needed.
• Performs lockouts/isolation; completes regulatory paperwork and safety permits.
