Job summary

Plains is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider offering electrical and instrumentation support across field assets such as tank farms, pump stations and control centers. The Intermediate E&I Technician installs, calibrates, maintains, and repairs designated equipment in open environments and often with high voltage or chemical exposure.

This field-based role requires reading electrical drawings, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating with trades and contractors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 2nd/3rd year trades apprenticeship preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant field experience.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and pipeline maps.
• Knowledge of electrical codes for pipeline/field operations.
• Experience with high-voltage systems and substation work.
• Proficient with PLCs, flow computers, and diagnostic tools.
• Strong safety record and ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform instrumentation and preventative maintenance on compressors per vendor guidelines.
• Calibrate and maintain control devices (flow, temperature, pressure, level).
• Maintain meters and perform meter inspections.
• Operate and service switchgear, transformers, and generators.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance; document issues.
• Collaborate with contractors and respond to emergencies.
