Job summary

Skyland Grain LLC is seeking an EHS Specialist II to identify gaps to regulatory and company standards, working with facility teams to implement improvements. The role will be primarily on-site at facilities, with travel up to 50% and a focus on EHS policy compliance and regulatory reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in EHS or Engineering, 4+ years of EHS experience (agriculture preferred), and strong communication, training, and incident investigation skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS or engineering required.
  • Certifications and focused EHS training preferred.
  • Experience and education should align with duties.
  • 4+ years’ EHS experience; Agriculture industry preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state and local EHS regulations, including facility permits and data reporting.
  • Provide strong field presence for EHS issues; coach and integrate into site culture to emphasize safety as a core value.
  • Administer education and training of EHS programs; onboard new employees and contractors at facilities.
  • Mentor supervisors and employees in EHS requirements and tools; include Life Critical Policies and hazard inspections.
  • Ensure databases, including Benchmark, are accurate and up-to-date; monitor data reporting and compliance.
  • Use standardized communication protocols to keep stakeholders informed of required information.
  • Schedule and assist in inspections and employee testing; ensure documentation is clear and tracked to resolution.
  • Measure facilities against agency regulations and EHS programs (LCP, OSHA/EPA, etc.).
  • Lead incident investigations and root-cause analyses; track corrective actions.
  • Understand dust hazard assessments, permitting, reporting, and EHS requirements for facilities.
  • Knowledge of PSM and/or RMP if relevant to facilities.
  • Collaborate with EHS team and other departments; maintain positive relationships with operations leaders.
  • Involvement in contractor management, including vendor qualification and auditing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
