Job summary

Education Development Center (EDC) is seeking 5 part-time Data Collectors (Casual I) to support a federally funded study examining how integrated science and literacy curricula affect early elementary students’ understanding of science. Positions require in-person data collection in kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms and travel to Madison, WI and other locations.

Responsibilities include administering assessments, data entry within 24 hours, and coordinating with school staff.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently within a research team.
• Experience working with young children in school settings and administering assessments.
• Criminal background check is required by the state Department of Education for data collectors working with students.

Responsibilities

• Participate in study orientation meetings and trainings
• Become a reliable assessment administrator
• Travel locally/regionally to and from elementary schools within data collection sites (Madison, WI; East Syracuse, NY; Portland, OR; San Juan, CA)
• Conduct assessments with kindergarten and first grade students
• Complete data entry and notes within 24 hours of data collection
• Coordinate with study team leaders to follow data collection protocols
• Maintain tablet technology setup and troubleshoot potential issues during assessments
