Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Controls Systems Technician 2 to join our field team in Utah. In this role you will commission systems, troubleshoot HVAC and controls issues, and help hand off installations to operations, working closely with customers to ensure reliable building performance.

You will perform system commissioning, load controller software, diagnose basic mechanical/electrical problems, and document progress with clear communication to customers and management.

Qualifications

• One to two years of industry experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical HVAC systems.
• Ability to use hand and power tools such as drills and saws.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems.
• Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools.
• Load system-level controller software and support startup activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
• Perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices such as sensors and actuators.
• Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment and verify proper operation.
• Respond to basic warranty calls and provide timely field support.
• Complete commissioning documentation, on-site documentation, time sheets, expense reports, and as-built updates.
• Communicate job progress, changes, and issues to management, the JCI contractor, or the customer.
• Communicate with the contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
• Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training with a strong regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
