Chesapeake Utilities Corporation seeks a Construction and Maintenance Technician I for field-based work in the service territory. You will support safe operation, installation and maintenance of gas pipelines and facilities, with emphasis on reliability and safety.

Responsibilities include equipment operation, preventive maintenance, inspections, and on-call rotation. The role requires outdoor work, weekend shifts, and adherence to safety protocols while supporting peak shaving processes as

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Entry-level mechanical/industrial experience or trade school is preferred.
Valid driver's license with ability to obtain CDL within 18 months.
Strong focus on safety is essential.
Basic computer skills (MS Office) and communication skills are needed.
Ability to wear PPE (respirator, fall protection, etc.) is required.

Responsibilities

Assists with operation and maintenance of gas pipelines and facilities.
Maintains company equipment, facilities, and grounds.
Performs pipeline maintenance (leak repairs, cathodic protection, clearing rights of way, valve maintenance).
Operates equipment (backhoes, excavators, trenchers) with guidance and maintains daily records.
Conducts equipment inspections (pre/post trip).
Keeps company truck stocked and organized.
Performs light maintenance on facilities/equipment.
Assists with peak shaving processes as needed.
