Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a Construction and Maintenance Technician II for locations in Orrville/Athens, OH. The role focuses on safe operation, installation, and maintenance of company infrastructure, with emergency response within the service area.

Responsibilities include operating pipelines and facilities, maintaining sites, and leading maintenance activities. CDL required; strong safety mindset and mechanical/electrical knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years underground utility experience (mechanical/industrial).
• CDL required (Class A or B).
• Strong safety focus.
• Proficient mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Heavy equipment operation skills.
• Basic computer and communication skills.
• Ability to wear required PPE.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains gas pipelines and facilities.
• Maintains facilities (operations centers, compressor stations, etc.).
• Leads or assists pipeline maintenance activities (leaks, cathodic protection, valves).
• Proficiently operates heavy equipment and may train junior technicians.
• Conducts inspections (including vehicle inspections).
• Documents compliance tasks in work systems.
• Manages 811 tickets for routine and emergency work.
• Maintains truck inventory and organization.
• Performs facility/equipment maintenance.
• Assists with material procurement and supports peak shaving processes.
