Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is hiring for a Construction and Maintenance Technician I to help operate, install, and maintain our gas infrastructure in a safe and efficient manner. This role focuses on field work, equipment operation, and ensuring facilities remain in top condition.

You will participate in routine maintenance, adhere to safety protocols, and support peak shaving and emergency response. This entry-level position requires a HS diploma and a valid driver’s license with

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Entry-level mechanical/industrial experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assists with operation and maintenance of gas pipelines and facilities.
• Maintains company equipment, facilities, and grounds (operations centers, M&R, City Gate, compressor stations, etc.).
• Performs pipeline maintenance (leak repairs, cathodic protection, clearing rights of way, valve maintenance).
• Operates equipment (backhoes, excavators, trenchers) with guidance and maintains daily records.
• Conducts equipment inspections (including pre/post trip).
• Keeps company truck stocked and organized.
• Performs light maintenance on facilities/equipment.
• Assists with peak shaving processes as needed.
