Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a Construction and Maintenance Technician II in Orrville, OH. The role focuses on safe operation, installation, and maintenance of gas pipelines and facilities, with emergency response within the service area.

You will operate pipelines, maintain facilities, lead or assist maintenance activities, and support procurement and peak shaving efforts. A CDL is required, along with strong safety and mechanical/electrical knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years underground utility experience (mechanical/industrial).
• CDL Class A or B license required.
• Strong safety focus.
• Proficient mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Heavy equipment operation skills.
• Basic computer and communication skills.
• Ability to wear required PPE.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains gas pipelines and facilities.
• Maintains facilities (operations centers, compressor stations, etc.).
• Leads or assists pipeline maintenance activities (leaks, cathodic protection, valves).
• Operates heavy equipment and may train junior technicians.
• Conducts vehicle inspections and other safety checks.
• Documents compliance tasks in work systems.
• Manages 811 tickets for routine and emergency work.
• Maintains truck inventory and organization.
• Performs facility and equipment maintenance.
• Assists with material procurement and peak shaving processes.
