Job summary

American Engineering Testing Inc in Rapid City, SD is seeking Civil Engineering Interns for Summer 2027. This 100% employee-owned firm offers hands-on learning in construction materials testing and field observations, with mentorship from experienced engineers.

You'll participate in real-world projects, work across geotechnical, environmental and construction teams, and gain exposure to testing methods such as gradations, density gauges, field testing, and concrete testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pursuing Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related degree.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry 30-50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in testing procedures and equipment such as gradations, proctors, nuclear density gauges, field testing, and concrete testing.
• Conduct field testing and observations of construction materials.
• Communicate with project managers, clients, and contractors at work sites.
• Additional miscellaneous assignments as needed.

Education

Pursuing Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering degree
