Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist I to operate at customer sites in Laveen, AZ. The role involves indoor and outdoor duties, waste packaging for disposal, and assisting in hazardous and universal waste removal while maintaining documentation.

Remote work is not indicated; travel to customer sites is expected. The position requires a chemistry or environmental science background, DOT/RCRA awareness, and a 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (8-hour refresher preferred).

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of chemistry principles and practices.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass Respirator fit test certification.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER (with 8-hour refresher) or ability to pass course on hire.

Responsibilities

• Collect, characterize & package customer waste for disposal.
• Assist with safe transportation of waste per federal regulations.
• Prepare packing lists, waste labels and shipping documents.
• Support site activities: inspections, waste collection, inventory, housekeeping & shipping.
• Collaborate on contents identification via field screening tests.
