Job summary

CDM Smith’s CEI team is seeking an Inspector to monitor and inspect highway-related construction at project sites, including roadway, drainage, bridges, erosion control, and maintenance/traffic. This on-site position requires analyzing plans, performing calculations, and ensuring work meets contract provisions with limited supervision.

The role involves travel 20%–40% and requires a valid driver’s license, 6 years of related experience, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• ACI/NICET certification in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performing both complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate proper materials and processes used and conformance to plans, specs, and provisions.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for construction inspection.
• Work under supervision appropriate to the assignment’s knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
