Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Inspector to support the Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group at project sites across multiple locations in the United States. The role focuses on inspecting roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance/traffic elements on highway construction projects.

The candidate will read and interpret plans, specs, and contract provisions, perform advanced inspections, and communicate findings to supervisors.

Qualifications

Verbal and written English communication required.
Basic arithmetic skills expected.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
Knowledge of highway construction materials, methods and equipment.
Ability to read and explain construction plans, drawings, specs.

Responsibilities

Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to ensure materials and processes meet plans, specs, and provisions.
Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
Work under supervision appropriate to demonstrated knowledge for the assignment.
Review drawings to prepare for construction inspections.
Document inspection results and communicate findings to supervisor.
