Job summary

CDM Smith seeks an on-site field inspector to join our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group. You will inspect highway construction activities at project sites, ensuring work complies with plans, specifications, and contract provisions.

The role requires inspecting multiple categories (Roadway, Bridges, Drainage, Erosion & Control, Maintenance & Traffic) under appropriate supervision, reading drawings, and communicating results to the project team.

Qualifications

• English communication and basic math skills required.
• MS Office proficiency for reporting and documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to verify material and construction conformance with plans and specs.
• Use specialized equipment and perform calculations for inspections.
• Review drawings and prepare for inspections; document results and communicate to supervisor.
• Maintain supervision level appropriate to knowledge and assignment.
