Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking an Inspector to monitor construction activities at project sites. This on-site role involves inspecting roadways, bridges, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance/traffic to ensure work complies with plans and contract provisions.

The candidate will read drawings, document results, and work under supervision as needed. A HS diploma, ACI/NICET certifications, a valid driver’s license, and ~6 years of experience are required; travel 20–40% is common.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performing complex inspections of construction to evaluate materials and processes used and conformance to plans and specs.
• Uses higher-grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspections.
• Works under supervision depending on assignment.
• Reviewing drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Documenting and communicating inspection results to supervisor.
