Job summary

Sperry Rail, Inc. is seeking a CDL Driver for a field-based role requiring extensive travel across the Eastern or Western US. You will operate hi-rail trucks and detector cars, perform inspections, and ensure DOT compliance while supporting rail flaw detection operations. This position is physically demanding and travel-heavy, with a pay rate of $21.60 per hour (Albany, NY) and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively (3–4 months at a time) within assigned regions.
• Operate hi-rail trucks and rail-bound detector cars on roadways and tracks.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain DOT compliance, including driver logs, inspections, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with rail flaw detection testing and data collection.
